So get this.
Your brain believes that it is safer for you to be in physical discomfort than to feel emotional distress and pain. Too scary for you to feel sadness? Don’t want to feel the shame? Can’t stand to sit with past emotions? No problem! Your brain will gladly give you a migraine, back pain, IBS, anxiety, shoulder pain, skin issues, food sensitivities, tinnitus, insomnia and pretty much anything else it can think of that will distract you from feeling that emotional discomfort.
But here’s the thing.
It’s doing it’s job. Your brain and nervous system are working PERFECTLY. They are just trying to protect you and keep you safe.
It is our job to recognize this pattern and bring in the tools and knowledge we have to comfort our scared ‘parts’ and teach them new ways of being in this world. New ways of responding to discomfort. As we do this, we begin to rewire those neuropathways that are stuck and that are being misguided by fear.
There is no one technique for restoring nervous system regulation that will work for everyone as we are all so uniquely different. We all have different past traumas, different belief systems, patterns and coping mechanisms, that have kept us safe thus far in life. But our brains all work in the same way, and with consistency, curiosity, and compassion we can begin to live in a body that experiences calmness as it’s baseline.
It is not “all in your head”. Your pain and chronic suffering is REAL. But what’s even more real is your ability to HEAL. I’m here to show you how.

I’m so happy you’re here. My name is Lindsay Hull and I have been working in the MindBody world for over a decade, becoming certified as a BodyTalk Practitioner in 2014. I have continued to expand my practice to incorporate neuroplasticity and nervous system regulation. I am passionate about this work and love witnessing such beautiful transformations among my clients.
My personal experience with brain retraining and nervous system work includes the DNRS program, Rebecca Tolin’s Be Your Own Medicine course, and Howard Shubiner’s Freedom From Chronic Pain patient course. I have also used the amazing healing companion, Haven, founded by Vanessa Azelis.
These programs and tools helped me recover from years of dysautonomia symptoms as well as a frightening experience with long covid.

Rewiring our brains is a fascinating science and one that continues to gain well deserved momentum in the chronic illness world. It’s so incredibly possible to recover from chronic pain and debilitating illness. There is no need for suffering and bandaid treatments.

Brain retraining or brain rewiring is a term used to describe different mindbody tools that work to rewire certain pathways in the brain.
These retraining practices work to interrupt unhelpful or negative patterns in the brain and replace them with positive ones. Theses patterns and belief systems are often from childhood and are subconscious, meaning they operate automatically and many times without our awareness. When we target the nervous system, we rewire our entire communication system beneath our conscious awareness.
The great news is our brain has a fantastic ability to change! The more we use a certain pathway in the brain, the stronger it gets. Likewise, the less you use a pathway the weaker it becomes until it eventually fades away.
The brain has the ability to present any sensation in the body. Just because the pain feels very physical does not mean it is structurally caused. Neuroplastic pain is very physical. In fact, some studies have found neuroplastic pain to be much stronger than structural pain! This is caused by the brain interpreting danger where there is none.
Pain and symptoms have a higher chance of becoming chronic when we become preoccupied with them. This is why the way out of the majority of chronic illness is learning how to trust that you are indeed okay. To surrender. To know you are safe.
Almost every person in the world will at some point suffer from sensations in their bodies that are the result of unexpressed emotions or stress. There is a way out. With patience, consistency, and compassion you can have your life back.
